In this class, we’ll explore the myriad ways rope can create emotional and/or mental stress, through shame, exposure, objectification, abandonment, disconnection, fear of failure and more.
Sadism and masochism come in a variety of forms, and many people who practice rope bondage have unique relationships with pain. But what about suffering that doesn’t come from physical sensations? What does it mean to identify as an emotional sadist or masochist, and how can we play with these desires in rope? In this class, we’ll explore the myriad ways rope can create emotional and/or mental stress, through shame, exposure, objectification, abandonment, disconnection, fear of failure and more. We’ll also look at cultural contexts for some of these feelings, discuss negotiation and risk management for this type of play, and aftercare considerations. (Please note: some of the material in this class is considered edgeplay and may be uncomfortable for some.)
PRESENTER:
Ebibex (she/her) is queer, masochistic rope bottom who has been practicing rope alongside her partner, DWL (he/him), for nearly eight years. Bex is a rope bottom advocate and educator, and she and DWL have taught and shared their experiences locally and internationally. As a professional photographer, DWL brings his own unique take on control and aesthetics to his ties, and he and Bex have developed their rope style around sensual sadism, artistic expression, careful control, suffering and surrender, and intimate partnership.
TICKETING:
Tickets: $15 - $35 in advance. Please pay at the level you can comfortably afford.
We offer a sliding scale, so that cost is not a barrier to attendance.
The regular ticket is $25. This is what most people should pay.
The $15 ticket is offered for those for whom the $25 ticket would be a barrier to participation. If $25 is too much, we take your word for it! Just pay $15.
Have a great salary? Feeling generous? Paying at the $35 level allows us to make the discounted ticketing available to others who need it.
So - that's it! Choose the level you can comfortably afford.
If cost is a barrier at any point on the sliding scale, please use the Volunteer List at the bottom of the listing to request a scholarship seat.
