In this workshop we’ll explore where academic theory meets kink, through issues such as consent, agency, body autonomy, and the difference between kink and abuse.
Kink is the pursuit of giving and receiving pleasure through bold sensation, a wide variety of sensory experiences, ordeals, playing with power, and much more. But is it dangerous? Is it possibly triggering? How do people keep themselves “safe” in these pursuits? What does “the politics of kink” really mean?
In this workshop we’ll explore where academic theory meets kink, through issues such as consent, agency, body autonomy, and the difference between kink and abuse. We will discuss trauma-informed kink and offer some tools for survivors and people playing with survivors, and a variety of kink practices, from beginner explorations to advanced, and think about why people are drawn to do this risky yet incredibly rewarding pursuit of all things kink.
