This event will be offered only at the Wicked Grounds Annex in San Francisco. No online tickets will be available.

This two-day intensive will provide an overview of the most fundamental techniques in restrictive and decorative rope bondage. If you’re only going to take one bondage class, this will cover the handful of knots that have the widest range of uses and a variety of ties that are simple to learn and easy to apply safely. If you’re at the start of a long journey into advanced rope bondage, this course will lay the foundation upon which all other techniques are based.

By the end of this course, you’ll have all the skills you need for incorporating rope into a wide variety of play, in and out of the bedroom. Notes and videos will be provided to assist with remembering material following the intensive. Given some subsequent practice, students will leave prepared to attend most intermediate-level rope classes.

How This Class Works

This class is part of a series of lessons called the Core Rope Curriculum (CRC), a system under which hundreds of students have learned to tie since 2010. CRC uses an inverted classroom format, meaning that students learn the steps for some techniques from videos prior to class. This allows more class time for interacting with the instructor, getting feedback, and refining skills.

You will need a partner for class, but they don’t need to be a romantic partner. If you’re looking for someone to pair up with, we have a group you can post in for just that purpose.

This class is structured with the expectation that one person will do the tying. While we encourage new rope bottoms to also learn some tying, and tops to also experience being tied, in order to cover more material in the time available, we won’t be repeating everything twice in class.

Please be assured that we welcome students with all bodies and identities. The instructor will always be happy to help you modify a technique to meet your needs and desires.

What to Study Before Class

No prior experience is required for this course, but some preparation is.

Every participant should read Getting Started with Rope and Basic Safety before class.

Everyone who plans to tie during class should practice the following techniques beforehand, all of which can be done without a partner:

The goal is to learn the steps well enough that you can repeat them from memory; don’t worry if it still feels awkward, or comes out messy -- we’ll iron out those issues in class!

Equipment You Need for Class

You will need at least 3 long (25-30 ft.) and 2 short (12-15 ft.) pieces of rope. This article covers common questions about selecting rope and building a rope kit. The best place to buy ready-to-use ropes in San Francisco is Wicked Grounds -- be very wary of packaged “bondage rope” at adult toy stores and on Amazon, most of which is awful.

COVID Protocols

All attendees must have proof of full vaccination and a booster received at least 2 weeks before the class. Attendees should plan to bring an N95/KN95 mask and wear it during the entire class. Mask policies may be relaxed depending on prevailing conditions and local guidance at the time of the class. Refunds will not be issued to attendees asked to leave due to failure to follow COVID protocols.

Please do not attend if you have any reason to believe you may have an active COVID infection.

PRESENTER

Topologist has been teaching rope bondage throughout North America since 2009. His non-dogmatic approach to rope centers safety and adaptability, with ties based on explicable physical principles. He has invented numerous new techniques, including the popular Somerville Bowline cuff. He pioneered use of the inverted classroom in bondage education, has ties and articles featured in books by at least 3 authors, and is the creator of Crash Restraint, the world’s largest completely free bondage education website.

TICKETING

Ticketing for couples only. No single tickets available.

We offer a sliding scale, so that cost is not a barrier to attendance.

The regular ticket is $165. This is what most couples should pay.

The $125 ticket is offered for those for whom the regular price would be a barrier to participation.

Have a great salary? Feeling generous? Paying at the $195 level allows us to make the discounted ticketing available to others who need it.

So - that's it! Choose the level you can comfortably afford.

ACCESS

This class will be held in the Wicked Grounds Annex. Please note that stairs at the front door are the only means of ingress and egress to the space.

Proof of COVID vaccination and masking are both required for all participants. We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the class start time for check in; late check-ins may require you to have vaccination and ticketing verified next door at Wicked Grounds Cafe & Boutique before entry.

Please do not attend in person if you have any respiratory symptoms whatsoever. Anyone displaying signs of respiratory symptoms may be asked to leave, regardless of vaccination status.
