Healing from Bad Experiences — Dynamics Seminar

How do we heal from harm?

Power Exchange Relationship Discussion Group. Topic of the week: Healing from Bad Experiences

Description

Let's Talk About Healing

The definition of a bad experience is subjective and encompasses a broad spectrum, including but not limited to consent violations, physical and/or emotional injury, social ostracization, kink-shaming/stigma, instense drop after scene... Some bad experiences are, to varying degrees, unavoidable. Once we find ourselves in the aftermath of harm (intentionally or not), what does the journey to healing looks like?

At this week's Dynamics Seminar, we invited you to the conversation on healing from harm. Essential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Processing and responding immediately following the incident
  • Tools for healing on your own
  • Healing in community

Those topics could be triggering and unsettling to some. Please attend if you feel okay with those topics and others sharing their experience, and understand that you could leave ANYTIME during the event.

All experience levels are welcome.

Our aim is to foster a peer-sharing environment where new kinksters could learn from those with more experience. (Or the other way around, you'd never know!)

This is a FREE event. Please purchase drinks or food to support the venue.

While donations to our group are optional, they are recommended and greatly appreciated. All contributions go towards compensating the facilitator.

What Should I Bring?

Yourself and your open mind! You should also bring a pen and notebook to write down all the ideas you come across.

Rules & Guideline

  1. Respect the speaker. Give them your undivided attention. Do not talk over others.
  2. Let’s try to all contribute to the conversation. At least give a short input, or… “I don’t have an opinion on this yet” Keep your answer <1-2 mins long.
  3. If talking about potentially triggering topics please ask consent from the group before telling the story. (Ex. Abuse, Self Harm, Etc.)
  4. Respect that others will have differing opinions. Respect their right to express their thoughts. Stay curious and ask questions: Don’t try to convince them to change; instead, try to understand why they believe that.
  5. “Let’s agree to disagree.” A phase to use when you would like to stop discussing this topic. If someone said that, please respect that and move on.
  6. Safety Signals: Covering your name tag.

Meet @Aut0psyMe

Our facilitator, Mina (@Aut0psyMe), entered the kink scene in the Summer of 2022. Drawing from an educational background in linguistics, music, and behavioral science, they have a profound interest in communication and fostering emotional growth & well-being. They actively serve as a community organizer. They have confronted traumatic events both within and outside the scene, and hope to share their insights and experiences with the group.
