Finding Your Voice — Dynamics Seminar

Power Exchange Relationship Discussion Group. Topic of the week: Finding Your Voice

Description

Let's Talk About Communication

Expressing our feelings and desires can be challenging at times, especially when it comes to "taboo" subjects like sex and fantasy, or addressing difficult topics like boundaries, negative feedback, or relationship de-escalation. Many of us weren't taught how to navigate these conversations. Join us at the Dynamic Seminar this week to learn and share communication skills, tips on building vocabulary, and tools for effectively expressing your needs, desires, and boundaries.

We will be covering topics including (but not limited to):

  • Creating a Judgment-Free Zone and Communication Norms
  • Using "I" statements and nonviolent communication
  • Active Listening and validation

All experience levels are welcome.

Our aim is to foster a peer-sharing environment where new kinksters could learn from those with more experience. (Or the other way around, you'd never know!)

This is a FREE event. Please purchase drinks or food to support the venue.

While donations to our group are optional, they are recommended and greatly appreciated. All contributions go towards compensating the facilitator.

What Should I Bring?

Yourself and your open mind! You should also bring a pen and notebook to write down all the ideas you come across.

Rules & Guideline

  1. Respect the speaker. Give them your undivided attention. Do not talk over others.
  2. Let’s try to all contribute to the conversation. At least give a short input, or… “I don’t have an opinion on this yet” Keep your answer <1-2 mins long.
  3. If talking about potentially triggering topics please ask consent from the group before telling the story. (Ex. Abuse, Self Harm, Etc.)
  4. Respect that others will have differing opinions. Respect their right to express their thoughts. Stay curious and ask questions: Don’t try to convince them to change; instead, try to understand why they believe that.
  5. “Let’s agree to disagree.” A phase to use when you would like to stop discussing this topic. If someone said that, please respect that and move on.
  6. Safety Signals: Covering your name tag.
