This class is an introduction to rope. This is a basics class only.
If you have only just started tying or are looking to learn your beginning three basic knots, this class is for you. We will start with an introduction to safety, basic safety items one should have, and how to look for complications or injuries.
After reviewing safety, we will move on to learning the basic knots needs for ground tying. From there it will be hands on. You can practice on yourself, or bring a friend comfortable enough to allow you to practice. We will have a few volunteers present for anyone who needs to someone to practice with, but can not guarantee how many. We will move on to practice some basic harnesses and tie down methods.
No prior experience necessary. All rope will be done as "ground rope" or "land rope". There will not be suspension taught in this class. There may be a suspension demo depending on time and the focus of the class.
Bring your own rope with you to practice. There may be some rope available if you do not already own rope, but supply will be limited. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

George Kuney (GeoKun) will be teaching the first part of the class. He has decades of experience with ropes as a result of the excitement and danger of racing sailboats. With Shibari, the challenging environment of wind and water is exchanged for the challenging environment of psychology. George will be addressing some of the basic techniques required to practice "safe rope" while enjoying the excitement and danger of Shibari.
