Intro to Dominance and submission

Curious about Dominance and submission but not sure where to start? Intro to D/s is a welcoming, beginner-friendly class designed for adults who are new to kink or exploring power exchange for the first time. No prior experience or membership is required — just an open mind and a willingness to learn.

Together, we’ll explore what makes D/s dynamics safe, consensual, and fulfilling. By the end of the class, you’ll have a clearer sense of how to approach Dominance and submission with confidence, integrity, and self-awareness — whether you’re curious, partnered, or exploring solo.

This class will qualify you for membership at Black Bird Atelier, and then you'll be cleared to attend social events.

Inside This Class We’ll Cover:

• Safety: Differentiating healthy dynamics from manipulation or abuse
• Consent: Understanding modern consent frameworks, such as FRIES or RACK
• Negotiating a Scene: Negotiation and communication skills
• Aftercare: Understanding and negotiating aftercare following a scene
• Communication: How to talk about kink with an existing partner
• Vetting: How to vet potential play partners for safety and compatibility
• Template Ideas: Get some fun ideas for different types of play, and learn about which types of play might appeal to you
• This class is designed for beginners and aims to provide a safe and informative space. There are no stupid questions, and this class includes ample time for questions and group discussion.

Who can take this class?

• Anybody over the age of 18
• Any gender
• Dominants, submissives, tops, bottoms, anybody!
• Both monogamous people, poly people, curious, swinger, etc. anybody!
• You can come alone or with a partner, or several, or friends, etc.
• You do NOT have to be a member of Black Bird to take this class :) Anybody can buy a ticket

What to Bring;

• Spill proof water bottle
• Notebook and writing utensil

About the instructor:

Princess_Raven is the owner of Black Bird Atelier, and has over a decade of experience as a Professional Dominant, and 5 years experience as a dating and relationship coach specializing in alternative relationship dynamics.

She enjoys making the fulfillment of kink more accessible through education and events. She enjoys helping people get connected and giving them the tools and confidence to take the next step in their kink journey.

Cancellation policy:

• 48 hrs - use Forbidden Tickets to get your refund (the ticketing platform that you purchased your ticket through)
• Please do not come if you are sick. Even if it’s “not Covid, just a small cold.” We are happy to roll your ticket over to a different class if you are sick

About Black Bird

We are a new studio located in Burlington, MA. We are committed to education, empowerment, and authentic connection.

Our exact address is sent out to ticket holders about 2 days before your class; this is for safety and discretion reasons.

Parking: We have plenty of free parking in our lot!

Accessibility: There is a flight of stairs to our unit, and our bathrooms are not large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, unfortunately. Service dogs are of course welcome, but we do request a heads-up please. If there are any other reasonable accommodations that we can make for you, please reach out!

Financial Accessibility: If you would like to help us out with set up and breakdown for the class, we are happy to comp your ticket! We can do this for 2 tickets per event. You will need to arrive 1 hr before the event starts, and stay about 30 min after the event ends.
