The Single Column Tie (Beginner Shibari)

Who this class is for:

• This class is for beginners - NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE required!
• Anyone can take this class; you do NOT have to be a member to attend.
• You can take it solo (self-tie) or with a partner (could be a romantic partner or a platonic friend!)
• Anyone looking to take Skyla's classes at the end of the month and needs to learn this tie as a pre-req, or brush up on it!

What you will learn:

• A single column tie (somerville bowline)
• How to play with it
• Basic safety - nerve compression, blood flow, etc.
• Intro to scene negotiation and communication
• Different types of rope and gear

What to bring:

• If you have your own rope, feel free to bring it! We also have rope available at the studio if you don’t have your own. Since this is a beginner class, we do not expect you to have your own rope.
• If you have your own safety shears, feel free to bring them! We also have several pairs of shears at the studio if you don’t have your own
• A water bottle with a spill-proof lid (we have cups at the studio if you forget)
• Notebook and something to write with
• Attire is typically yoga clothes. Nudity/lingerie is not allowed. This is a class, not a play party.
• We provide 1” thick yoga mats, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer

Water/Snacks:

• We will have an assortment of snacks available (fruit snacks, chewy bars, etc)
• We also provide hot tea and filtered water

Venue:

Feather & Flame (previously Black Bird Atelier) is a new studio in Burlington, MA. We are located in a small office building with ample free parking. Exact address is sent out to ticket holders 2 days before the class. Burlington’s newest space dedicated to education, empowerment, and authentic connection.

About the instructor:

Princess_Raven is the owner of Feather & Flame, and has over a decade of experience as a Professional Dominant, and 5 years experience as a dating and relationship coach specializing in alternative relationship dynamics. She also has over 10 years of experience as a classically trained dancer and instructor, and brings this knowledge of body movement and partnership to her rope practice and teaching.

She enjoys making the fulfillment of kink more accessible through education and events. She is passionate about rope play and how it can help people connect both within themselves and with their partners.
