Description

Hosted by Feather & Flame in Burlington, MA

Shibari is more than just a series of knots — it is a way to communicate through touch, movement, and intention. In this class, we will explore rope as a medium for connection, focusing on how body positioning, pacing, and mindful tying can create different emotional experiences.

Together, we’ll explore how to use rope to build moments that feel cozy, vulnerable, sensual, playful, or rooted in power exchange. Whether you are tying with a romantic partner, a friend, or a trusted play partner, this class will help you deepen your connection and create more intentional scenes.

This class is beginner-friendly, but is recommended for tying partners who have some prior rope experience due to its focus on relational and connective skills. The only prerequisite is the ability to safely tie a non-collapsing single column tie.

As always, Feather & Flame classes are taught within a framework of enthusiastic consent and informed risk awareness. Our favorite consent frameworks include FRIES and RACK.

Inside This Class We’ll Cover:

  • Simple rope techniques for creating connective scenes
  • How body positioning influences the emotional tone of a scene
  • Using movement and physical guidance to communicate without relying only on verbal instructions
  • How pacing, intention, and presence shape the experience of rope
  • Safety and consent considerations for connective rope play
  • Ways to build trust, communication, and intimacy through shared exploration

Come explore rope as a conversation — where every tie is an opportunity to listen, respond, and connect.

Shibari is an artform that has gained major popularity in recent years. It is a wonderful way to connect with yourself and/or your partner. From the meditative and relaxing process of building patterns and structure with rope, to the sensory grounding experience of focusing on the texture of the rope, and the many somatic health benefits of simply being held by the rope - the content of this class will increase your tool kit to explore those spaces, and connect with partners.

About the Instructors:

Princess Raven is the owner of Feather & Flame and has been creating educational spaces for the kink community for over 15 years. Her teaching focuses on the intersection of intimacy, embodiment, communication, and power exchange.

Her specialties include intimacy coaching for couples, partnered movement practices such as ballroom dance, embodied communication through touch and body language, and teaching BDSM skills with an emphasis on consent, negotiation, and intentional connection.

A lifelong student of human connection, Princess Raven loves creating immersive scenes with her play partners and using rope, movement, and sensation to build meaningful experiences. She believes that the most powerful play comes from curiosity, communication, and a willingness to truly listen to your partner.

Marzipan has been exploring kink for the past 8 years and she really enjoys finding different pathways of connection with friends and partners that mix the goofy, gooey, sweet silliness with the spice. Her approach to play is all about building the vibe together and being patient and open to experimentation without judgment, since every encounter is a new experience. Her playful style is all about seizing the joyful moments that make us laugh, and she's excited to share her perspective with the class.
