Sanguineous Scene Safety at Sanctuary

Sanguineous Scene Safety with Christina B. Dynamite at Sanctuary

Description

When blood may be part of a scene, it introduces higher risks that require advance consideration and preparation to obtain clear consent. This is true whether blood is inevitable in play, such as with piercings, or as a byproduct of other activities such as impact play.

This class uses a practical harm-reduction approach to help participants make informed decisions, reduce preventable risks, and navigate blood play more safely. No actual blood play or piercings will be involved in the class, just discussion.

Participant Learning Outcomes:
• Explain the primary health risks associated with blood play and factors that influence risk profiles for both givers and recipients.
• Conduct a thorough pre-scene negotiation to determine risk profiles, shared goals, boundaries, safety plans, aftercare needs, and
• Identify skills and factors that promote safer scenes:

  • Recognition of situations in which blood play should be postponed or avoided.
  • Clean vs. sterile practices; Skin, tool, and workspace preparation and maintenance; Cleanup procedures; Safety habits.

Experience Level: Beginner to intermediate. No prior blood play experience is required, though the material will also provide useful refreshers and practical tips for experienced players seeking to improve their safety practices.

Christina B. Dynamite (she/her) is a vibrant Transformational Life Coach, Educator, artist, polyamorous queerdo, and Mental Health Nurse/consumer. She fiercely believes that being authentically yourself and kicking shame in the teeth are non-negotiables for a meaningful life. She first learned she was a power bottom and sadist as a member of TES in NYC in the late 1990s, and after a long gap, was surprised to find out she’s still wired that way. She has been a member of PDX Bad Girls since 2018, and is a former member of Dykes on Bikes PDX (2020-2026). Dynamite lives in Portland, OR with her wife, 3 dogs, and 4 cats. She trains in circus arts at Echo Theater, drives an art car, and sheds at least a quart of tears a week leaning into growth in order to make room for more joy.
