JourneyDance - September

Move, Feel, Heal; Connect-to-self-and-others

Join us for a guided movement experience that will take you on a transformative journey of self-expression and empowerment!

Description

Welcome to JourneyDance™ !

Come join us for an unforgettable experience of self-discovery and movement exploration. JourneyDance™ is a transformative, somatic, embodied movement practice where you can let go, listen to your inner wisdom, express yourself freely, and connect with others through dance.

Think ecstatic dance + guided meditation + group ritual :)

The facilitator (isha) will guide you through the JourneyDance™ flow as you take an inward journey seeking self exploration and sacred belonging. This event is all about feeling the music, releasing stress, and having fun -- No dance experience required!

All are welcome (18+). Please register in advance so I know how many to plan on. I can't wait to move with you!

Facilitator Bio:

Healing doesn’t require conformity — it asks for your full, authentic self.

isha (she/her) is a certified JourneyDance™ Facilitator, community organizer, and fiercely authentic guide devoted to holding space for Queer, Kinky, and post-religious folks ready to reconnect with their bodies and reclaim their truth.

As a late-in-life, ex-Mormon, Pansexual-Poly-Slut, cis-woman, disabled-neurodivergent; isha brings lived experience, deep curiosity, and radical acceptance to everything she offers. Her facilitation style is spacious, bold, and affirming — inviting you to question everything you’ve been taught, while anchoring into the wisdom of your body.

isha recently stepped into this work and is passionate about supporting those who are new to movement or ready to try something different.

Whether you're exploring embodiment for the first time or returning to your body after years of disconnection, her classes offer space to belong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cost

ONLINE Tickets are "pay what you can" between $12-$30 with a suggested price of $17 per person;

  • $17 - ticket cost for the event to cover costs and provide compensation if at least 14/20 spots are filled (covers space rental, supplies, training/certification costs, pays isha for her time, etc)
  • $12 - low cost to keep events accessible for everyone
  • $30 - paying a bit extra helps me offer accessible low cost tickets and helps buffer expenses if we don't have a full/sold-out class

with no one turned away due to lack of funds (email me at isha.4hs1@gmail.com for options).

Do I need to bring anything?

  • Waterbottle
  • Floor covering (blanket preferred, other things will work in a pinch (yoga mat, flannel, etc)

Where is this?

outside TBD

Is this accessible?

The movement/dance form = yes. While it is guided, we hope that you'll do what's best for your body and take whatever accomodations you need. Some folks need to sit in chairs, or use a pad for their knees, or move faster/slower than the group. Or cry in the corner with a scarf on their head.

Location Accessibility?

Outisde TBD
Instructor will use a headset/mic and music/volume levels should be at a nice and energetic level. Please contact me if you have an access needs or accomodation requests.

How can I learn more about JourneyDance™ ?

Check out the website here https://journeydance.com/. There is also another group in town that offers JourneyDance™ , we're friends and like and attend their classes too! (they introduced us to JJourneyDance™ ) https://www.bodymagicktemple.com/

What will the flow be like?

We'll start off with a brief introduction and container setting. The music starts us with embodiment (on the ground) and moves us up to our feet thru funky (group play), evocative, alchemic (often using imagery or fire), etc and back to ourselves ending with Bliss (on the ground like savasana).

Is this like Ecstatic dance? or Zumba?

This will be more guided than estatic dance but nothing like a traditional dance or exercise class--there's no copying patterns or steps; it's inclusive, adjustable, accessible; and the only rules are: don't hurt yourself and don't hurt others.

What do I wear?

Anything comfortable that you can move in. Probably stretchy sorts of yoga or movement clothes, also something you're prepared to roll around on the floor in. Some people like to feel sexy, some comfortable; anything welcome as long as it covers your bits!
