Description

If you plan to attend our July Play Party later this same night, please register for this event BEFORE registering for the party!

Class Description

  • Negotiation: Want to create an amazing SM or impact scene and don't know where to start? Communication is key, and the most important form of communication that should be occurring during the early stages of forming any connection is negotiating what each party wants from the interaction/relationship. Sara Scalper (with assistance from their lovely wife, AJ) will show you how to negotiate for a variety of types of physical SM scenes. Whether you're an old pro or are just dipping your toe into the kink scene, join this class and learn some new ways of communicating your scene needs!
  • Impact Technique: Are you curious about impact play but uncertain who to learn from? If so, come out and join your friendly neighborhood queer femme D/s couple, Sara Scalper and UndeniablyAJ, as they teach safer spanking, paddling, flogging, and caning technique as well as some rough body play techniques-and maybe even show you some ways to "be a hit" that you'd never even considered!
  • Calibration: What is calibration, you may ask? Well, the dictionary definition is "the act of checking or adjusting the accuracy of an instrument." Applying this concept in a BDSM context in a scene, a top's body (and their implements, an extension of their body) is the instrument. The top can adjust their movements, what implements they use, the intensity of their use, the patterns they are used in, etc. to become more "in tune" with the bottom. This results in a more satisfying scene for all. Toppy folks will learn how to clearly read the communication signals that bottoms give off during a scene and calibrate their actions, resulting in longer and more satisfying scenes, and bottomy folks will learn ways to communicate how they're feeling during a scene in order to assist the top in calibration.

Presenter Bio

Sara Scalper is a queer, non-monogamous, non-binary femme and an ethical sadist and femme dom who has been topping since 2002, has been involved in the kink community since 2004, has been a part of the Boston community since 2009, and has been teaching since 2014. Primarily a physical sadist and impact top, they also get great pleasure from teaching folks newer to the scene how to top safely (via classes or one-on-one instruction) and/or how to negotiate so they have safe(r), satisfying scenes. Sara has taught at/for several Fetish Fair Fleas, D&G NE, GKENE, Tethered Together, NH Kinky Con, NEDS, Bound in Boston, Boston Invasions at the Society, KOFS, Trans Spectrum Kinksters, Paingasms at the Society, MOB, Boston TNG, BKC, and Wicked Women over the past 11 years. They can often be found with their lovely wife and collared submissive, UndeniablyAJ (who often helps them present their classes!), and their extended ''kinky family,'' and love to talk ethical nonmonogamy as much as they do BDSM.

Group Rules: Please review our group rules. You can also print and sign our Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct Agreement from the same page on our website. If you don't, we'll have you sign them when you check in. If you have signed these previously, you don't need to sign them again.

COVID Policies:

  • We are no longer requiring attendees to be vaccinated against COVID, though for community safety we would prefer if you are up to date with the latest booster. We will not be checking proof of vaccination any longer.
  • Please don't attend if you're feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 (review symptoms here). If you can't attend due to illness, we'll refund your tickets fully. We don't care what the CDC says about isolation; if you test positive for COVID within 5 days of this class, have had a known exposure, or are feeling ill, please do not come and spread your germs.

Buying Tickets & Event Capacity:

  • We are implementing a maximum capacity of 20 attendees due to limited space, so if you want to come, you should quickly reserve your tickets online!
  • If you want to avoid Forbidden Tickets's fees, you can select the registration-only ticket and pay an alternate way. We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards, PayPal (@BoxTieStudio), Venmo (@boxtiestudio), and Cashapp ($ropespaced). If you pay one of these ways ahead of time (not at the door), please indicate which order it's for (the email address on your order works).
  • "Our pricing is on a sliding scale, a system developed to fight against economic injustice and widen access to education and other events to build community. Please pay according to your available resources" (wording borrowed/slightly changed from the Boston Rope Collective, with their permission). If the ticket cost is a little out of your budget even at the lowest tier, please reach out to us and we can work something out.

After Party: Our July play party will be taking place just after the intensive from 7PM-11PM and we hope you'll join us for the fun!!! If you're interested in attending, pay attention to your email receipt for a special promo code for 20% off your tickets to the party (this offer will apply whether you pay through Forbidden Tickets or an alternative method).

What/Who To Bring & Wear:

  • Bring a blanket or yoga mat to sit on, if desired; there are a few chairs.
  • Also bring water, paddles, canes, floggers, and any other impact toys you wish!
  • Vanilla to the door, no nudity inside; genitals and anuses must be covered.
  • You can come alone or with a partner, but we won't match up single attendees for you. You can pair yourselves up if desired.

Parking & Arrival Time:

  • Doors open at 12:00. Please try to arrive early! We will be closing the doors at 12:30 and making opening remarks so we can start ASAP. If you know you're going to be late, please text Cait at (207) 558-2930. If you arrive and the door is locked, please knock loudly and/or call Cait, as our doorbell is broken :(
  • There is plenty of parking. When you turn onto Ingersoll Drive, the parking lot is the first left, and we are the first building on the left. We are the second-floor end unit; you'll see tall windows and skylights from outside. Please text Cait at (207) 558-2930 if you have trouble finding us.

Miscellaneous:

  • No guns or other weapons are allowed on the premises.
  • There is no smoking indoors. Please step outside to smoke.
  • Use of drugs and/or alcohol is not allowed. If you are suspected to be under the influence, you will be ejected from the event without a refund.

  • There are 3 short stairs to get into the building and a carpeted staircase inside to get upstairs to the studio. Unfortunately, there is no elevator access.

If you have any other questions, please reach out to us! You can also contact @ropespaced (Cait), @Griffin207 (Jack), @ragdollbaby (Grace), or @Bratty_Beck (Beck) on FetLife. Otherwise, we hope to see you there!
