-Weekend Schedule-
ImPartial: Transitions in Partial Suspension
Saturday, 5/23/26 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Description: We often think of dynamic transition sequences as being exclusive to complex, complicated, full suspensions. This workshop is to debunk that mindset.
In this class, students will learn sequences with multiple transitions in close proximity to the floor. Explorations will include in-air body handling, active vs passive movement, in-rope decision making, and intentional pacing to create fluid, expressive pathways between shapes. Emphasis will be placed on creative expression, aesthetic choice-making, sustainability, clear communication, and play. Students will leave with adaptable frameworks they can integrate into their own tying style—whether or not full suspension is part of their regular practice. - Rigger prerequisites: Experience building suspendible harnesses, ability to build and manage multiple uplines in static suspension, confident in rope communication skills, knowledge of safety and risk in rope
Bottom prerequisites: Confident in-rope communication skills, knowledge of safety and risk in rope, confident ability to monitor and communicate signs of nerve compression.
This workshop is best suited for partners who have tied together previously. - Format: 1 six-hour day with a lunch break.
- Supplies: A full suspension kit (8-12 pieces of rope), a fabric blindfold, and a cutting tool. This class is designed to be taught on bamboo.
TK Maintenance
Sunday, 5/24/26 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Description: This class/lab hybrid is designed for folks who have already learned the scaffolding of a stemless TK structure and want to refine it. When do we choose low hands versus high hands? What does it actually mean to “set” someone’s shoulders? What do you do with that stubborn bit of leftover rope at the end? When is a third rope necessary—and when is it just extra? And what the heck should our tension really be? This is a space for curiosity and iteration. Bring your questions. Bring a notebook. Bring a mindset ready to tie · untie · repeat. Syd doesn’t have all the answers—but she’s excited to get delightfully nerdy in the process of finding them together.
- Rigger prerequisites: Experience building suspendible harnesses, ability to build and manage multiple uplines in static suspension, confident in rope communication skills, knowledge of safety and risk in rope, some experience tying a stemless TK.
Bottom prerequisites: Confident in-rope communication skills, knowledge of safety and risk in rope, confident ability to monitor and communicate signs of nerve compression, some experience having been in a TK previously. - Format: 3 hours.
- Supplies: A full suspension kit (8-12 pieces of rope), a fabric blindfold, and a cutting tool. This class will likely only include only harness building and labbing, with opportunities to test with an upline. In the case that the entire class is very advanced, there is the chance of doing a simple full suspension.
Pathways: One Rope Floor Play
Sunday, 5/24/26 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Description: While Shibari is often recognized for its technical complexity, it's equally a practice rooted in sensuality, intimacy, playfulness, and emotional connection. The rope is a tool for this—becoming an extension of ourselves, allowing us to express and evoke powerful emotions. In this class, we will explore how this form creates a balance between skill and feeling, using a single piece of rope to navigate the delicate interplay between tension and release, control and surrender.
This class will heavily focus on body handling and building confidence in improvisation. - Prerequisites: Any single column tie.
- Format: 2 or 3 hours.
- Supplies: 1 piece of jute rope, a fabric blindfold, and a cutting tool.
-Presenter Bio-
In March of 2018 Sydona found her way into the NYC kink scene and has since immersed herself into honing her rope practice, perhaps obsessively. She currently works full time as a nightlife performer, bondage artist, and creator. Previous to 2020, Syd trained and worked as a professional modern and contemporary dancer, and is proud of the way she melds her thirteen odd years of experience as a movement artist into her current practice. She considers her style of tying to be sensual, flirty, and delightfully sadistic.
In these past several years she's traveled both within the U.S. and internationally for rope opportunities, as a performer, as a student, and as an educator. Sydona has completed over forty hours of private instruction from Milan-based Fede Kirigami and Marta Tenshiko, and has attended many advanced level Shibari intensives worldwide. She's worked alongside Hajime Kinoko for his web-style performances in each of his US tours since 2020, and in February of 2026 she's been invited to study closely with Naka Akira and Norio Sugiura in Tokyo. As an educator and performer, Syd has shared her work both within the US and internationally, most notably Devil Mask Studio (LA), Kor Berlin, and Anatomie Studio London. She currently serves as a resident educator and facilitator at Temple New York and Hit Me Up, and regularly facilitates, teaches, and performs at many events and venues in NYC and beyond.

- Please review the class prerequisites carefully and only register if you meet them. If we don't know you/your skills, we may ask you to send us a short video of you demonstrating a quick static suspension.
- We're limiting attendance to 10 tying pairs due to limited space. There may be room to audit as we get closer to the event.
- You must register as a tying pair (unless you're auditing).

Buying Tickets:
- We're offering 3 pricing options for this intensive: $260/tying pair, $310/tying pair, or $360/tying pair. Please choose the option that makes the most sense for you. If you have more expendable resources, please consider choosing the middle or higher tiers so that we can continue to offer the lower tier to those who need it, at this and future events.
- To avoid Forbidden Tickets's fees, select the registration-only ticket and pay an alternate way. We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards, PayPal (@BoxTieStudio), Venmo (@boxtiestudio), and Cashapp ($ropespaced). If you pay one of these ways ahead of time (not at the door), please indicate which order it's for (the email address on your order works).
- If paying the full ticket price all at once is out of your price range, even at the lower tier, a payment plan can be arranged. Message us to discuss.
Parking & Arrival Time:
- Doors open Saturday morning at 10:15 AM. Please try to arrive early so we can get everyone checked in and settled in time for class at 11. Doors will open at 10:30 on Sunday.
- There is plenty of free parking. When you turn onto Ingersoll Drive, the parking lot is the first left, and we are the first building on the left. We are the second-floor end unit; you'll see tall windows and skylights from outside. Please text Cait at (207) 558-2930 if you have trouble finding us.
