Needles can be a very versatile kink. Whether you're topping, bottoming, or self-stabbing—into it for the pain, blood, pretty designs, or more—needles can provide an avenue for you to explore some edgier play. During Box Tie Studio's Needle Night, we will have a Needles 101 class, followed by an Advanced Needles Skillshare with MKB & TKB, and finally, play time!
In Needles 101, Cait, a registered nurse since 2015 and needle enthusiast since 2016, will lead you through the basics of needleplay. Safety, proper technique, and ways to minimize the risk of bloodborne infection will all be discussed and demonstrated. Anyone who is interested in trying needles—whether topping, bottoming, switching, or self-stabbing—will get a chance, and Box Tie Studio will provide supplies for everyone to participate.
In the Advanced Needles Skillshare led by MKB & TKB, people who already have some needle play experience under their belts will have an opportunity to get together and discuss, share, and practice some techniques that go beyond the basics, including needles in sensitive places such as the face and/or genitals. Bottoms for this skillshare are allowed to be fully nude for demonstration purposes, but only if everyone in the group is okay with it.
- MKB (he/him) & TKB (she/her) (a.k.a. "The Bears") are a passionate, playful, prickly, polyamorous pair who have been active in the scene for the past 10+ years. You might call them your friendly neighborhood sadomasochists! While their favorite kink is learning about all of the things, they have a special place for sharps play as it allows them to combine his creative flair and her analytical style. When not indulging in play they can be found spending time with their better third, MrsKinkyBear.
Needles 101 will run from 4:00-5:15 and the Advanced Needles Skillshare will run from 5:30-7:00. We will then have a short dinner break from 7:00-7:30, followed by playtime from 7:30-9:00. You can socialize, practice your new skills, or have scenes.
Since this event is taking place around dinner time, we are making it a potluck. We will be providing the main course, and there will be a question on the ticket order form asking if you have any dietary restrictions. Please sign up here to bring something to share; do not bring anything with peanuts!
We are implementing a maximum capacity of 24 attendees due to limited space, so if you want to come, you should quickly reserve your tickets online! Also, if you want to avoid Forbidden Tickets's fees, you can select the registration-only ticket and pay an alternate way. We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards, PayPal (@BoxTieStudio), Venmo (@boxtiestudio), and Cashapp ($ropespaced). If you pay one of these ways ahead of time (not at the door), please indicate which order it's for (the email address on your order works).
Some other notes for the group:
- Please review our group rules. You can also print and sign our Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct Agreement from the same page on our website. If you don't, we'll have you sign them when you check in.
- Bring a blanket or yoga mat to sit on, if desired. There are only a few chairs. You can bring your own sharps supplies if you have any; if not, we can supply some.
- Vanilla to the door, no nudity inside; genitals and anuses must be covered. The exception to this is if you are bottoming for genital needles during the advanced skillshare.
- You can come alone or with a partner, but we won't match up single attendees for you. You can pair yourselves up if desired.
- All attendees are required to be vaccinated against COVID, and WE WILL CHECK YOUR ID AND PROOF OF VACCINATION AT THE DOOR. If you can't be vaccinated for legitimate reasons, please reach out to us beforehand. You can securely send photos of your ID and vax card to Cait (cait@boxtiestudio.org) ahead of time if you'd like.
- Please don't attend if you're feeling ill or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 (review symptoms here). If you can't attend due to illness, we'll refund your tickets fully. We don't care what the CDC says about isolation; if you test positive for COVID within 5 days of this class, have had a known exposure, or are feeling ill, please do not come and spread your germs.
- Doors open at 3:30. Please try to arrive early! We will be closing the doors at 4:00 and making opening remarks so we can start ASAP. If you know you're going to be late, please text Cait at (207) 558-2930.
- No guns or other weapons are allowed on the premises.
- There is no smoking indoors. Please step outside to smoke.
- Use of drugs and/or alcohol is not allowed. If you are suspected to be under the influence, you will be ejected from the event without a refund.
- "Our pricing is on a sliding scale, a system developed to fight against economic injustice and widen access to education and other events to build community. Please pay according to your available resources" (wording borrowed/slightly changed from the Boston Rope Collective, with their permission). If the ticket cost is a little out of your budget even at the lowest tier, please reach out to us and we can work something out; scholarships are available based on need.
- There is plenty of parking. When you turn onto Ingersoll Drive, the parking lot is the first left, and we are the first building on the left. We are the second-floor end unit; you'll see large windows and skylights from outside. Please text Cait at (207) 558-2930 if you have trouble finding us.
- We have a dog and there will likely be dog fur throughout the studio, although we do our best to keep it as clean as possible. If you're allergic, please take note.
If you have any other questions, please reach out to us! You can also contact @ropespaced (Cait) or @Griffin207 (Jack) on FetLife. Otherwise, we hope to see you there!
