The Taboo Party is about exploring the edges of our darker desires and twisted sense of humor.

Have you been longing to do a truly perverted scene where others may look on in awe and horror? Do you fantasize about a scene that gets you completely hot, where you are free from worries about bad vibes and side-eyes? Then this is the party for you!

Taboo provides a safe and consensual space for you and your partners to create your perfect scene and we are happy to help you get there!

Why Taboo: Resurrection?

We are excited to bring Taboo, a party for more intense scenes and edge-play, back for the first time since the shutdown. We welcome your suggestions and feedback, let’s make this iteration of Taboo better together.

Taboo will Feature:

• Large, fully equipped, and vibing dungeon playspace with hardpoints, crosses; tables, benches, cages, and more.
• Multiple pieces of accessible kink equipment on the ground floor.
• Dedicated social spaces and cozy cuddle rooms for pre-care and aftercare
• Scrumptious snacks with vegan options.
• Curated playlists to set the mood.

Taboo Rules - ‘cause we’re special that way!

This is not a party for pick-up play. All scenes must be fully negotiated in advance including verbal and non-verbal safewords. It is highly recommended that players have their after-care plans in place before the party.

In addition to StopGap Rules, what can’t you do at Taboo?

NO breath play, NO race or ethnic play (including NO nazi play), NO scat and NO watersports.

The party will be loud and players will not be asked to quiet their vocalizations. Please don’t ask. Ear protection is recommended for sound sensitive individuals. The venue will have a limited number of complementary earplugs available

Consent for Taboo - it goes both ways, and then some!

Taboo is an edge play party and a safe space for players to do scenes that they cannot do at home or other play spaces.

What is edge play? Edge play is any play that pushes one physically and/or emotionally. As the well worn joke goes: “One person’s edge play may be another person’s Tuesday night!”.

Consent for edge play is trauma-informed and bi-directional for the players and the observers.

To be fully transparent, we ask individuals to consider the impact on their well-being before attending Taboo.

If you are new to the scene or have little real life experience this is NOT the party for you.

By purchasing a ticket to Taboo you are consenting to see and hear play that can be potentially disturbing and triggering.

Taboo DMs and Safewords (because safewords are sexy)

• Taboo DMs are experienced in edge play and proper safety set up.
• Players are asked to check in with the DM on duty before starting play. Depending on the scene negotiated the DM will direct the player to an appropriate space for their play. Players will be asked to share their safewords with the DM.
• DMs will check-in if verbal and/or nonverbal safewords are missed or ignored.
• The House safeword is “SAFEWORD” and will summon the DM or Party Host.
  Calling “SAFEWORD” is a call for help and assistance from outside your scene for both tops and bottoms.

Connect

As with all AfterDark events, when initiating social interactions please respectfully approach and ask first before engaging in conversation. Gracefully, accept with a “yes” or decline with a “no, thank you”. No one should feel obligated to interact at Taboo.

Play

Stopgap features a large and fully equipped dungeon playspace with fully-restored equipment from the Citadel, plus much of AfterDark's own equipment. There are around 20 play stations not including the sensual room and cuddle room.

Dress Code

While dressing to the general kink/BDSM themed-clothing is strongly encouraged in order to help maintain the immersive ambiance of the night, dungeon blacks, lingerie or general fetishwear are also welcome. We encourage you to dress up - make an effort to impress but if nothing else comes to mind then dress as you would for a fancy night out.

Please be mindful that you might have to wait in line outside (it may be cold) and that you are welcome to arrive in regular clothes and then change into your kinky outfit once you get inside! Limited lockers are available - please bring your own lock.

Date and Time

Saturday May 4, 2024, 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Doors will close at 11:00 PM. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry and not be refunded so please arrive before 11:00 PM or let us know ahead of time if you will be arriving late.

Entry

Presale tickets are required - the venue address will only be sent to ticket holders. Ticket prices are tiered as follows. Each tier has a fixed number of tickets.

• Tier 1 - $40 (Early bird)
• Tier 2 - $50
• Tier 3 - $60
• Tier 4 - $75
• Financial Access (while available): $30
• Volunteer: $0

All tiers will have tickets available until the tier sells out. Lower tiers will sell out fairly quickly so we recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible!

A portion of all ticket sales will go towards enabling access to the event for low-income community members. Financial access tickets may be purchased on the ticket page while they remain available. Ticket fees help cover venue rent, security, catering, performers, and other professional service fees, food, decorations, A/V, purchase and maintenance of play equipment, paying the guest hosts and so much more. AfterDark believes in paying people for their time, knowledge and experience. We are also putting aside all excess revenue towards Paradox - our new permanent home opening soon.

This is a more intimate party. We are limiting ticket sales to create larger safety zones around play stations. This event WILL sell out in advance of the event date. Purchase your tickets as early as possible for the best available prices and to guarantee your spot - don’t miss out! We sometimes get a few cancellations the days leading up to the event so place yourself on the waiting list if you see a sold out message.

COVID-19 Safety

For everyone’s safety you are required to show at the door that you have had a full first round of vaccines and at least one booster to attend this event.

We're also asking that everyone do a rapid test before they arrive. Put your name/initials & date on the test strip. Take a photo & show it at the door when you arrive. We will have a limited number of tests for sale at $25 each in case anyone is unable to pretest.

Masks are optional however we encourage their use.
